USE OF SCHOOL FACILITIES
The Vermilion Parish School Board shall lend its facilities, including buildings, grounds, and stadiums for the use of educational, cultural, recreational, and civic organizations. Facilities are not available to private individuals or to political groups.
The Application for Use of School Facilities shall be submitted to the Superintendent of Schools fifteen (15) school days prior to the date of the proposed activity.
Organizations are to contact the principal of the school where the facility is to be used and complete an application form before the fifteen (15) day period.

NOTE: 1 | Professional boxing and professional wrestling under the sponsorship of any individual or any organization is prohibited on school premises. |
Buildings (auditoriums, cafeterias, gymnasiums, and other facilities)
General Regulations
Organizations requesting the use of an auditorium, cafeteria, or gymnasium shall file an application with the principal before contacting the Superintendent of Schools.
Organizations requesting the use of the cafeteria must have a staff member from the Child Nutrition Program present at all times to ensure the safety of people and equipment.
Fees
Custodians shall be paid according to their present wage.
Child Nutrition Program staff shall be paid according to their present wage.
A minimum fee of $75.00 shall be assessed for the first hour of use, and an additional $25.00 per hour for each hour of use thereafter. Fee begins when air conditioning system is turned on.
A deposit of $75.00 must be made when fees are assessed.
All fees assessed are payable to the Vermilion Parish School Board.
The organization shall be responsible for payment for the repair of any damage to school property and equipment lost or damaged and, if a building is not left in an acceptable condition, for payment for the labor necessary to restore it to an orderly condition.
If the service of a law enforcement officer and/or fireman are required, the organization shall:
Make the necessary arrangements for these services.
Make the necessary payments for charges for the services directly to the proper authority.
When submitting the Application For Use of School Facilities to the Superintendent, and before approval is granted, the organizations shall submit a liability insurance policy covering personal and property damages which may occur during the event. Activities, other than organized meeting, which involve individual or group participation must be covered by liability insurance.
Under no conditions shall anyone other than the principal, assistant principal, custodian, or a member of the Superintendent’s administrative staff be issued a key for any of the public school buildings of Vermilion Parish, with the exception that a coach, band director, shop instructor, cafeteria manager, or other school personnel may be issued individual keys to their respective departments. In addition, any unauthorized person or group found in a public school building or on the grounds of a school shall be subject to disciplinary action.
The use of alcoholic beverages, drugs, and hazardous substances on school premises is prohibited.
All exterior doors shall be kept closed when air conditioning or heating unit (s) is (are) in use.
No property or buildings of this School Board will henceforth be made available for political campaigning or debates and no functions are allowed in or upon school property at which a duly qualified candidate for public office, nor anyone on behalf of such candidate will address any public gathering. Provided, however, that a duly recognized civic organization may utilize school property or buildings for the purpose of conducting a forum of discussion by candidates for public office or representatives supporting or opposing a proposition. Provided further that a duly qualified candidate for public office may address the School Board at a regular or special meeting concerning his/her qualifications and platform.
